Class Description:
The verbal game of an improv scene is often prioritized over setting up the scene's location. But if we aren’t spending any time creating the environment our scenes take place in we're missing out on opportunities to explore and heighten the game through physicality. This 4-week class is designed to help the improviser make clear and specific choices when creating the “where” on stage. If you’ve recently found yourself in too many “Talking Heads” scenes, want to expand your physical vocabulary on stage, and/or need reps connecting verbal patterns to physical ones then this class is absolutely for you! Respectfully.

About Carla Cackowski: Carla Cackowski is an improviser and teacher living in Los Angeles. She regularly tours across the country with her two person improv show, “Orange Tuxedo”. Carla toured on boats performing sketch and improv with Second City and performed on mainstage Harold Teams at both iO West and UCB Los Angeles. She directed the International Ensemble at the Vancouver Improv Festival and has traveled all over the world teaching and performing in comedy festivals. She was an improv teacher at The Second City in Hollywood for twelve years, is the former Artistic Director at Mi’s Westside Comedy Theater in Santa Monica and the former Co-Artistic Director at Curious Comedy Theater in Portland, Oregon. Some recent improv Das Improv Festival (Berlin), Copenhagen International Improv Festival, Detroit Improv Festival, Sarasota Improv Festival, Last Best Comedy Fest (Bozeman, Montana), and The Last Word Comedy Festival (Williamsburg, Virginia).
